For the next 8 days we will focus on aligning our hearts and minds with His. This is the beginning of drawing close to God. We need to agree with Him!

I have two completely conflicting views of God. First, I believe He is forgiving and loving and will be sweet to me regardless of how I behave. I expect Him to “love me no matter what”. Then I define love as giving me anything I want. I have to say that I am often disappointed. God does not give me what I want. He must not love me.
The second concept lives deeper, and is darker. I am afraid that maybe God is mad at me. Maybe He has rejected me because I do not worship Him, serve Him, obey Him enough. He has given up on me and walked away. It is too late. Since He’s mad at me already, I really don’t want to spend any time with Him. Would you want to spend your morning with a grumpy God? I think I’ll watch the morning news instead.
Both of these views are lies, intended to confuse us and draw us away from the Father.
But God has shared with us exactly who He really is, and how He really thinks of us, throughout the scripture, through His Son, and through the Spirit who walks with us.
God is love. God is joyful. God is just. He created us to be with Him, because He wanted to share His brilliant life with us. If we do not want that life, we are free to go into our own darkness. But I choose to accept His offer.
